Meet Denslow Brown, MCC, CPO-CD, CPO

Denslow Brown, MCC, CNC, CPO-CD, CPO, is the visionary co-founder of the Coach Approach Training Institute (CATI), alongside Cameron Gott. Formerly known as Coach Approach Training – Institute for Applied Coaching, CATI has grown under Denslow’s guidance, where she now serves as the Director of Credentialing, overseeing the evaluation and administration of coaching credentials for CATI coaches.

A respected voice in the organizing, ADHD, and coaching fields, Denslow’s diverse background and expertise uniquely prepared her to create this innovative enterprise. She played an active role in course development, and still serves as the lead trainer for Neurodiversity Support & Advocacy and Coaching in Action. With a career as a professional organizer dating back to 1974, she has remained an influential figure within the industry as a leader, volunteer, and multiple honoree.

Industry Leadership and Recognition

Denslow has been deeply involved with the National Association of Productivity and Organizing (NAPO) and the Institute for Challenging Disorganization (ICD) since their inception:

  • She has served on NAPO’s national board, edited NAPO News, and founded and led the Quantum Leap Task Force, NAPO’s first community service initiative, for a decade.
  • Recognized with the President’s and Founders’ Awards from NAPO and the Judith Kolberg Award from ICD, Denslow holds some of the highest honors in the organizing industry.

Teaching and Program Development
With decades of experience as a professional educator, Denslow has been instrumental in developing CATI’s 20+-course curriculum. Her teaching career spans national and international venues:

  • In the 1980s and ’90s, she led organizing and time management workshops through The Crystal Quilt in New York City.
  • For a decade, she presented workshops on “ADHD and Women” at the Michigan Womyn’s Music Festival.
  • Within ICD and its predecessor, the National Study Group on Chronic Disorganization, Denslow pioneered ADHD training, developing numerous teleclasses and serving as the lead mentor for ICD’s Level IV and V programs.

At NAPO, she contributed to the Brain-Based Conditions Specialist Certificate, creating the foundational course, “Communicating with Clients with Emotional, Cognitive or Behavioral Challenges.” Denslow is also a frequent presenter at conferences for NAPO, ICD, CHADD (Children & Adults with ADHD), ADDA (Attention Deficit Disorder Association), and the Japanese Association of Professional Organizers (JALO).

Author and Contributor
Denslow’s contributions to literature include:

  • The Processing Modalities Guide: Identify and Use Specific Strengths for Better Functioning (2013)
  • Recognizing & Respecting the Lines: Distinguishing between Coaching, Organizing, and Psychotherapy (2012)
  • Several chapters in the ICD Guide to Challenging Disorganization for Professional Organizers (2012) and the ICD Guide to Collaborating with Professional Organizers (2014)
  • Numerous articles for CATI students, such as Finding & Selecting an ADHD Coach, Essential Structures, and the BE-CAUSE Coaching Skills Model.

Private Coaching Practice
Through her private practice at OrganizerCoach.com, Denslow offers specialized support as:

  • An ADHD coach for adults seeking to better understand and manage their unique cognitive strengths.
  • A mentor coach for organizers, productivity consultants, and coaches, guiding them on client supervision, business development, and professional growth.
  • A mentor coach for those preparing for credentialing, helping coaches hone their competence through session evaluations.

Professional Development and Credentials
Committed to continuous learning, Denslow has attended nearly every annual NAPO and ICD conference since their beginnings, often as a presenter. As a Master Certified Coach (MCC), she has completed over 200 hours of coach training, regularly meeting rigorous requirements to maintain her certification.

Her coach training is rooted in the teachings of industry leaders such as Madelyn Griffith-Haynie (The Optimal Functioning Institute), Laura Berman Fortgang (Life BluePrint Coaching), and Barbara Luther (inattentive ADHD and coach credentialing). Denslow has further honed her skills through ICF mentor training and an intensive program on coach session assessments. Her custom-developed ICF marker-tracking forms have been adopted by coaches across various training programs.

Denslow’s journey into ADHD coaching began in the late 1980s after her sister and nieces were diagnosed. She has since attended nearly all major ADHD conferences hosted by CHADD, ADDA, and ACO, where she quickly became a sought-after presenter. This early entry allowed her to effectively integrate coaching, ADHD management, and organizing strategies, providing a unique perspective at the intersection of these fields.

Her vision lives on in the education we provide, as CATI continues to instruct extraordinary, well-trained coaches from all over the world.
